Just a few weeks later, when we travelled to Helsinki for the MyData Conference 2025, we were honoured to receive a MyData Award. An award which celebrates our contribution to a fair, human-centric data economy.
Trust, Collaboration, and Recognition: Athumi at MyData 2025
In September, the European Commission officially recognised Athumi as an EU Data Intermediary, a milestone that validates our mission: to enable trustworthy data exchange between individuals, businesses, and governments.
A European milestone
Being recognised under the EU Data Governance Act (DGA) means more than compliance. It’s about setting a new standard for trust in data sharing. As a data intermediary, Athumi acts as a neutral and transparent facilitator, helping data flow safely between parties without exploiting it for our own gain.
It’s a clear framework that builds confidence in voluntary data sharing, the foundation for a sustainable, innovative data economy in Europe.
Insights from Helsinki
At MyData 2025, we joined a vibrant community of data intermediaries, governments, and innovators to discuss the future of data spaces, digital trust, and people-centric governance.
During our workshop on sustainable business models, we explored how intermediaries can create value while safeguarding rights and maintaining neutrality.
Our key insights
- Trust is the currency of the data economy.
- Collaboration beats competition when it comes to unlocking data’s full potential.
- Clear governance and transparency are essential to scale responsible data ecosystems.
Why this matters
The recognition by the European Commission and the MyData Award both highlight one thing: Europe’s data future depends on cooperation.
Intermediaries like Athumi play a crucial role in making that future work — enabling secure, transparent, and fair data exchange between citizens, companies, and governments.
The data economy can only thrive through collaboration and dialogue.
